What is praying with passion?
Praying with passion means having an intense, real relationship with God that is manifested through our own physical, emotional, and spiritual sense of that reality. It means a conversation with God in which we truly know in our hearts that He hears us. It is visible, even tangible, as we communicate with God in such a way that we move closer to God in all parts of our lives. Praying with passion is praying for real.

Have you ever truly wanted to get real with God? Have you ever had the urge to run into the middle of the forest and shout, “God, what am I doing here? What do You want me to do?” You look around and see others raising their hands to praise God, tears streaming down their faces as they passionately absorb the music and message of God, and you wonder, "Why not me? Why don’t I feel like that? I want what they have, and God, I want it now. I want to know You, God, desperately and passionately."
Through this study, God will take you there!

Praying with Passion is the perfect antidote to listless prayer. Its admonitions are on target. Judge Albert McCaig is a dear friend, prayer partner, counselor, and encourager to me. But my motive for recommending Praying with Passion is not for any of those reasons. It is because the message is biblically sound and very much needed!

In my fifty-nine years as a pastor, I’ve read many books on prayer. Praying with Passion is the first book that looks at all facets of one’s prayer life. I wish I had had a book like Praying with Passion during my early years as a believer. I would recommend Praying with Passion to anyone who is serious about his or her prayer life.

I am convinced prayer unleashes the power of the Holy Spirit and enables God to work in the lives of His people. As James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” As we begin, I would like you to think about the following two questions.
If everyone prayed just like you do now, what would the world be like?
If everyone prayed exactly like you wish you prayed, what would the world be like?
The answers to those two questions are very telling for most of us. Christians often come up short of actually living the life of prayer we wish we had. It is for that reason this study on prayer, although direct and simple, may be one of the more meaningful studies you will undertake in your Christian walk, outside a study of the Bible itself.

Knowledge on ice will not overcome our love-filled heart passionately on fire for God.
(Chapter 6, Praying with Passion: Grounded in Obedience)
We will not be inside God’s will for ourselves or for His church until we know, understand, and follow the greatest commandment.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments (Matthew 22:37–40).

Praying with passion is not only raw emotion that comes with an adrenalin rush. Praying with passion may mean quiet perseverance over a long period of time.
