Who am I?
I'm Albert McCaig, Buddy to my local friends. I'm just a guy who believes in God and the power of prayer. I am committed to helping others realize how powerful prayer can be. I currently serve as a Senior Texas State District Judge, a prayer ministry leader, a writer, and speaker. I regularly help others through intercessory prayer, giving God all the glory.
With the publication of the book, Praying with Passion: Grounded in Obedience, I develped a seven-part seminar on prayer and have presented it many times to churches and ministry groups. I have personally experienced the positive power of prayer in my own life and have seen it in the lives of others.
As an attorney, I maintained a general law practice. I also served for a time as an assistant district attorney and special prosecutor in Texas, taking on several highly publicized cases of fraud, financial wrongdoing, and theft in a public institution.
In my law practice, I tried hundreds of cases to juries, including both civil and criminal matters. Appointed judge of the 506th Judicial District Court of Texas, I took office in October 2007 and continued to serve until January 1, 2021, when I assumed senior status. In both my practice and as a judge I have seen the cultural breakdown of our society first hand, and have personally seen how having a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ is the only answer.
I served over ten years active duty with the United States Army and another thirteen years in the National Guard and Army Reserve. I retired as a major. Having spent almost seven years directly on tanks and armored vehicles, I carry a few scars and injuries from my service with a 70% VA disability rating. Even in the tough life of a soldier in the combat arms I have seen the positive power of prayer in the lives of my fellow soldiers.
In the Army, while not on tanks, I served as an operations and war plans officer at almost all staff levels. Especially notable was my tour of duty as war plans officer for the largest US armored brigade in Europe during the Cold War. I was honored to also command a tank company stationed along the Iron Curtain in Germany.
I am a graduate of Waller High School, Sam Houston State University, and South Texas College of Law. Prior to my judgeship, I was an active civic leader in the chamber of commerce, Lions Club, Rotary Club, County Fair Association, FFA supporters, and the school board. I also hold a black belt in Taekwondo.
In 2016 I was honored to have been elected to the inaugural class of the U.S. Army ROTC National Hall of Fame, one of just 376 out of over 600,000 officers commissioned through Army ROTC in its first 100 year history. In 2017 I was again honored to be selected as the Distinguished Service Award recipient from Sam Houston State University, my alma mater.
My wife Kitty and I previously attended Waller Baptist Church, where I served as a deacon, Sunday School Director, and director of the prayer ministry. We currently assist our son Don in his church, Vine Fellowship, in Arlington, Texas.
My wife, Kitty, and I have been married since 1971. We have two grown children, both married and involved in church ministry. Son Donald is a pastor, and is married to Taylor Gibson McCaig; and, they have two children. Our daughter, Blake Haller, is married to Joe and is a worship leader at her church. Joe and Blake have two children.
My focus in life is to champion God, my country, and my family.

This is my witness: "My soul is my work clothes. I wear it on the outside so that all may see it and know who and what I am. If my clothes become soiled, it is through my fault alone."
